Birthday Party Host

Very Part-Time | Independent Contractor | $75 per party

Do you love kids, crafts, and celebrating? A Joyful Mess Art Studio is looking for a joyful, outgoing Birthday Party Host to help us create fun, memorable birthday experiences for kids and easy, enjoyable parties for parents.

This is a very part-time position that's a great fit for someone looking to earn extra income without committing to a lot of hours. It could be especially well suited for a teacher, college student, or someone who enjoys working with kids and is looking for occasional weekend work.

You do not need to be an artist! We're looking for someone who is confident leading a group, genuinely enjoys kids, stays organized, and can bring positive energy to a celebration. We provide all of the training, projects, and supplies you'll need.

What You'll Do

As a Birthday Party Host, you'll take the lead on creating a smooth, joyful party experience from beginning to end. You'll:

  • Set up the studio before each party

  • Welcome the birthday child, family, and guests

  • Lead kids through the scheduled craft project

  • Keep the party moving and on schedule

  • Make the birthday child feel extra special and celebrated

  • Help serve cake, food, and other party items

  • Create an experience that allows parents to relax and enjoy the celebration

  • Clean and reset the studio after the party

  • Report the final number of party participants

Who We're Looking For

You'll be a great fit if you are:

  • Outgoing, warm, and joyful

  • Comfortable leading and engaging a group of children

  • Great at making kids feel welcomed and celebrated

  • Organized and able to manage your time

  • Dependable and comfortable working independently

  • Able to keep things moving while still making the experience feel fun and relaxed

  • Interested in arts and crafts—you don't need formal art experience

  • Currently in college or older; this position is not open to high school students

Schedule & Availability

Our birthday parties are held during these regular time slots:

  • Fridays: 5:30–7:00 PM

  • Saturdays: 10:00–11:30 AM and 1:00–2:30 PM

Hosts arrive 75 minutes before the party for setup and stay approximately 30 minutes afterward for cleanup.

This position does not require you to work every party or every weekend. Hosts are scheduled in advance for the month and will have at least one weekend off each month, with no more than two parties scheduled per weekend.

Because our party schedule depends on customer bookings, the number of parties and hours will vary from month to month and are not guaranteed. If you're scheduled for a party time, you'll need to keep that time available. If no party is booked for your scheduled time, we'll let you know at least one week in advance that you aren't needed.

Training

Don't worry if you've never led an art party before. We'll train you! We'll teach you our party projects, studio procedures, setup and cleanup expectations, and how we create the A Joyful Mess party experience.
